The company Stenko d.o.o., then still operating as Stenko Jože s.p., was established in 1982. Initially, the company was involved in the collection and cleaning of waste materials. The first location of the company was a house that was over 100 years old, owned by the grandparents of the current director.
The first business meeting focused on the collection and cleaning of waste materials. Initially, the company collected PVC reels from specialized engineering companies. These reels were manually cleaned in our company and then returned to Železarna Jesenice, where they were used for rewinding welding wire. After the initial success, the idea of collecting and cleaning PVC handles from physiological solution emerged, as they were also considered waste. We manually cleaned the PVC handles and then sold them for filling ibotol containers. The demand for this type of packaging was significant, leading us to organize the purchase of these handles from all hemodialysis centers in the former Yugoslavia.
In 1992, the company relocated to new premises in the Trzin Industrial Craft Zone, where the premises are owned by the company. The relocation brought a new business challenge - the cleaning of waste or returnable wine bottles. For this purpose, we had to make one of the larger investments, which was the purchase of a machine for cleaning such packaging. The purchase proved to be profitable as the machine continues to operate flawlessly to this day.
In 1998, we made the decision to discontinue the cleaning of PVC handles and introduced our own product to the Slovenian market for the first time. We invested a lot of effort and dedication into this product - a can with a capacity of 10 kg and 20 kg. This product continues to be successfully produced to this day.
Afterward, we faced a new business challenge - wholesale sales of glass packaging, including jars for preserving, bottles for wine, juice, spirits, and more. The demand for this type of packaging increased significantly and continues to grow to this day. Stenko d.o.o. was the first company in the market to offer such a wide selection of glass packaging.
In 2008, we also began the extension of a new building, which will be connected to the existing hall, thus providing an additional 500 m2 of space. The project was planned to be completed by 2010.
In order to meet the demands of our customers for a comprehensive range of products, we are planning to open a retail store specializing in glass products in 2010.
Today, the company employs 20 people and has been operating successfully for 36 years.
